SRU Academy
The goal of the Santa Rosa United Academy is to develop exciting, skillful players that will fit into a possession/attacking style of soccer. This will be done through an active learning environment where passion for the game and fun will be the emphasis.
U8 – Boys and Girls
No tryouts are being held for the U8 age group, everyone is welcome to join on a first come basis. Building on the success of our Winter Development Academy we have created a NEW program for the U8 age group. Click here for more details.
2010 Tryout Dates Released
U9-U10 Academy and U11-U14
Feb. 27th: Boys only
U9-U10 (Academy) – 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
U11 - 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
U12 and U13 – 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
U14 – 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
Feb. 28th: Girls only
U9-U10 (Academy) and U11 – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
U12 and U13 – 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
U14 – 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
March 6th: Boys Only & March 7th: Girls Only
U9 and U10 (Academy) – 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
U11 – 10:30 a.m. to noon
U12 – 1p.m. to 3 p.m.
U13 and U14 – 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
The Academy uses age-appropriate fun games and activities to accelerate Player Development in the following areas:
- Technical ability and skills (dribbling/receiving and controlling the ball)
- Passing and striking techniques
- Tactical Awareness (basic tactical training, principles of defense/offense)
- Psychological Development (development of a ‘passion’ and ‘love’ for the game and for playing it)
In developing our practice sessions we take the following essential factors into consideration:
- Use fun games and activities to encourage player participation
- Provide participants with the best possible experience each time they get together
- Provide an environment that maximizes touches of the ball and develops technical skills
- Introduce a competitive element to games and activities to challenge players and develop a competitive nature at the right pace
Expectations for Santa Rosa United teams are high, but this is NOT "win at all cost" soccer. The success of the SRU Academy is measured by the development and growth of its participants, not by wins and losses.
