RICHMOND, Va. (March 5, 2013) – The rosters and schedule for the Elite Clubs National League Player Development Program event to be held in Santa Rosa, Calif., on March 9-10 have been announced. The event will be held at Trione Fields, with some of the best players from the following ECNL clubs in California and Washington: Arsenal FC, DeAnza Force, San Juan SC, Pleasanton Rage, Santa Rosa United, MVLA and Mustang SC (Calif.), and Washington Premier and Crossfire Premier (Wash.).

Player Development Programs (PDPs) are regionally-based identification and development programs within US Club Soccer’s id2 Program with three primary goals: (i) provide the top players within specified elite leagues with an opportunity to be identified and evaluated for higher levels of play; (ii) provide a developmental experience; and (iii) recognize and reward individual performance and achievement. PDPs are operated in conjunction with elite leagues sanctioned by US Club Soccer.

Each Player Development Program includes a training session and two 11 vs. 11 games.  U.S. Soccer scouts are in attendance at each PDP to observe the players.

The full schedule of events is available here.

Players are selected for the Player Development Programs based on their performance in ECNL competitions and by recommendations from ECNL coaches.  Between January and June 2013, the ECNL will be hosting nine PDP events across the country, providing an opportunity for top players in every ECNL club. There are no costs for participation in Player Development Programs. The ECNL covers all staffing, facility rental and equipment costs for the ECNL PDPs. The only responsibility for participating players will be the cost of travel and accommodation.

ABOUT THE ELITE CLUBS NATIONAL LEAGUE:

The Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) was founded in 2009 to enhance the developmental experience of female youth soccer players in the United States through: (i) Improving the competitive environment through creation of a true national competitive league; (ii) Improving the process for identifying elite female soccer players for the U.S. Soccer youth national teams through a systematic scouting and identification program based on national competitions; and (iii) improving the daily training environment at top female youth soccer clubs through developing best practices and training and organizational guidelines for its member clubs.  The ECNL is sanctioned by US Club Soccer and is sponsored by Nike Soccer.  The Army National Guard is the official military branch of the ECNL.
