Elite soccer players from all over the country came together for an intense, three day camp and a chance to earn a position on Super Y-League Select Teams being assembled for the ’91, ’92 and ’93 age divisions. The boys played several games and were evaluated by  ODP Staff Coaches and US Soccer National Coaching Staff for U.S. National Team Programs.  Collegiate coaches also attend these camps, scouting for players for college soccer programs.  “The level of play was the highest you can play at,” said Spann.  “The pace was faster than anything I’ve ever seen and I was shocked at how big some of the players were.” 

 Acevedo and Henderson (92), Helfrich and Spann (91), all  made the cut to play in the all-star games, a great honor.  The weekend culminated with the selection of the SYL Select Teams.  Nico Spann was named to the ’91 Select Team, and Angel Acevedo earned a spot on the ’92 Select team.   Being members of the Select Teams means that Acevedo and Spann will play in Germany this summer .  Both boys are looking forward to the opportunity to play at the international level, and are proud to represent Santa Rosa United on these national teams.  Spann reflected, “Going to the Florida camp was an experience I’ll never forget.  And now to have a chance to play in Germany…It can’t get much better than that!”
