Message From Director Of SOCCER - ANDREW ZIEMER
Greetings Santa Rosa United Community,
First and Foremost, I would like to thank everyone for remaining patient during this time of uncertainty. I would like to address the upcoming games scheduled for this weekend, both locally and away. The games are sanctioned by Norcal Premier (http://norcalpremier.com/) and we are at their mercy in regards to scheduling. They do not want to cancel any games this weekend but they will do so to protect the players from unhealthy conditions. As a result, we as a club must remain patient until conditions improve and NorCal Premier (http://norcalpremier.com/) makes a last minute decision.
Latest update from NorCal Premier About Away Games This Weekend:
Norcal Premier (http://norcalpremier.com/) has informed me that they will attempt to not cancel any games this weekend. However, they have also informed me that they will wait until the last possible moment before they cancel. Last weekend they made the final call on Saturday morning at 5 am. Do not expect a final decision until late Friday night or Saturday morning. We will do our best to get you the news as soon as it becomes available to us. We understand your concerns, but please understand that NorCal State Cup Games are out of our control, during this time of tragedy and unexpected air quality conditions.
Earlier you saw the procedure for training sessions and below you find the procedure for games, in regards to cancellations due to conditions beyond our control.
REGARDING GAMES THIS WEEKEND
AWAY GAME PROCESS:
November 17th and 18th
NorCal State Cup – Manteca, NPL Girls Showcase (Davis) and NPL Boys Showcase (Modesto)
Once NorCal Premier Decides we will quickly let Coaches/Manager know Friday night (Nov. 16th) or Early Saturday Morning (Nov. 17th).
Hotel Reservations – Please inquire with your hotel about their cancellation policy. Please make them aware of our situation. Try to speak to a manager at the hotel to get them to work with us. If they do not comply with our need for last-minute cancellation fee waivers for our club, we recommend canceling your reservations to comply with their cancellation policy if you do not want to be charged. If the games are going to be played and you need a hotel, we recommend finding one once NorCal Premier makes the announcement.
Non-State Cup Away Games
Nov 17th and Nov 18th
NorCal Premier (http://norcalpremier.com/) is leaving it up to the home team so when we are traveling, it will be up to each club who we are playing to make the call. Managers should communicate directly to the opponent about if games will be canceled.
At this point, ALL SRU teams should plan on playing on Nov 17-18 weekend until we hear/know otherwise. If you have reservations for non-state cup games, see the hotel recommendations above.
HOME GAME PROCESS:
